All our events are FREE, but you may choose to give a donation. Your gift of any amount can help to recover some of our costs.

Sunday 5th September 2010, 10am - 4pm

Practical Nature Conservation

Join BTCV in the park for a day improving the park for

wildlife and people.

 

Thursday 9th September 2010, 7pm

Annual General Meeting + Special Guest Speaker

The AGM will be followed by a presentation from Michael Rowan, Director of Mile End Park, called "Bringing the Countryside to the East End - winning hearts and minds to the cause of ecology"

 

Sunday 12th September 2010, 10am - 9pm

BioBlitz

Come and join our scientists, naturalists and other

experts, for a day of fun and discovery in Tower Hamlets

Nature reserve.

Our enthusiastic team of experts will show you how to

identify different species of wildlife, as we work against the

clock to spot and record as many varieties of animals,

plants, and fungi as possible.

Help contribute to this scientific survey of our

woodlands, meadows and ponds, joining in with the

activities that interest you most.

We will round off the day with a bat walk.

The Soanes Centre will provide toilets and facilities, and

will act as a base camp for our expedition.

Come and be amazed by the nature on your doorstep!

 

Sunday 19th September 2010, 10am – 5pm

London Open House - Walks every hour on the hour!

Visit the park during the Capital's biggest architectural

event where London is turned into a living exhibition for

48 hours, it is all about seeing, experiencing, exploring

and understanding architecture, engineering and

design. Learn more about the parks historic importance.

Includes a nature walk at 2pm. Last walk at 4pm.

 

October

Grave research

Learn all about the burial history of the park and some

of the Park’s better known ‘residents’ and join members

of the East London History Society in grave research.

 

Saturday 16th October 2010 @ 10:30am - 12:30pm

Bow Beasties Wildlife Watch Club - Seeds

For children aged 4 – 14 The Wildlife Watch Club takes

place in the fabulous resource of the Cemetery Park, each

month we do different activities to learn about Wildlife.

 

Sunday 17th October 2010, 2pm

Wild Food Walk – Seeds and Berries

Supported by the Can Do Community Grant

October is a great time to get out and collect seeds, nuts

and fruits to either eat or from which to grow future trees &

wildflowers — anywhere you live, work, learn or enjoy

yourself that would be all the better for more trees.

Wild Food Walk - Fungus Foray

Supported by the Can Do Community Grant

Have you ever wondered about the difference between a

shaggy ink cap and a puff ball, or which mushroom is safe

to eat? Join us on our Fungus Foray around the Park.

Our annual service to remember and pay tribute to those

WEEKLY

Every Tuesday

Weekly ‘Drop in’ Volunteer day, l0am to 4pm Come for all or part of the day. Find a job or task that suits you and your interests, and help the “Friends”, in caring for and developing Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park. The park has Local Nature Reserve status and is a great place for both natural history and human history. The time and date of volunteering may vary so before your first visit please phone Ken on 07904 186 981.

MONTHLY

1st Thursday of the Month, 7:30pm - 9:30pm

meeting - (2nd Sept., 7th Oct., 4th Nov., 2nd Dec.)
Whether you’re considering to maybe join the
committee or you just want to find out what’s discussed,
please feel free to join any one of the regular monthly
meetings.

1st Sunday of the month, 10am - 4pm
Practical nature conservation project
( 5th Sept., 3rd Oct., 7th Nov., 5th Dec. )
Join us for the day helping to improve the park for
wildlife and people. Projects are seasonal so each
month we carry out a different project. Gloves are
provided along with refreshments, but please wear old
clothes, sturdy footwear and bring a packed lunch.

2nd Sunday of the month, 2pm - 4pm

Have a guided tour of the park learning all about the
physical and/or natural history. The
19th September Walk will be part of Open House.
