Why Join the Friends?
- Your membership is a sign of your support and is
important even if you do not wish
to be an active member. Outside bodies view the size of our membership
as an indicator
of our support in the community.
- Although all of our public events are open to
everybody, as a member you have a
voice in the ‘Friends’ by being able to stand for office or a place on
our committee
at the AGM (in early summer), or to cast your vote for preferred
candidates. You
also receive ‘Stone Stories’, our magazine several times a year. This
gives details
of events discoveries and developments in the Cemetery Park and on
Ackroyd
Drive Green Link, which together form one of Tower Hamlets two
statutory Local
Nature Reserves.
- If you are able to give practical support there are a
host of ways you can do it.
These include practical nature conservation activities, grave recording
and histori
cal research, helping plan and run events, fund raising, giving ‘wise
counsel’ on the
committee and if you have suitable skills you may be able to help us
develop the
Friends structure and organisation to adapt to the growth of our
activities and
budget.
Are you a UK tax payer? As a UK tax payer we will
automatically receive Gift Aid (tax relief) if you pay your
membership fee online. It helps us make your money go much
further.
